I was called to a home to service an oil burner on a peerless oil fired hot water boiler with an indirect water heater. When I arrived, I performed a thorough inspection of the unit to identify the problem. I found that the burner was not igniting, and the pilot light was not staying lit. I checked the gas pressure and found that it was low, so I adjusted the gas pressure regulator to increase the pressure. After that, I cleaned the burner and the pilot assembly, and then I lit the pilot light. The burner then ignited, and the water heater started heating the water. I also checked the thermostat and adjusted it to ensure that the water was heating to the desired temperature. Finally, I performed a safety check of the unit and made sure that all the connections were tight. The homeowner was very pleased with the service, and I left the unit running smoothly.
